What do I need to do if a parent did not receive a text message?
- If a person DOES has a cell number in the SMS field of School Messenger but DID NOT receive the opt-in text, ask them to manually opt-in by texting “yes” to 68453. It is possible that their cell carrier may have blocked the original opt-in text.
- They should then receive the reply: “You are registered to receive aprox 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.” If not, they should check with cell carrier to see if they are blocked.
If I update my cell number through the parent portal (parents) or through Infinite Campus (staff), when can I expect to receive the Opt-in message from the District?
Our system may take 24 hours for the information to update. Once the number has been officially updated in the system, you should receive the opt-in message via text. If not, please manually opt-in by doing the following:
- Text the word “yes” to 68453.
- You will know you were successful if you receive the following reply message: “You are registered to receive aprox 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.”
Am I really going to receive “approximately 3 messages per month?”
Probably not. We are using SMS/Text messaging to communicate only emergency or time-critical information.
Will I be charged for this service?
Although the district does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.
If a person’s cell number is in the system (Infinite Campus/School Messenger) does it mean they will receive text messages?
Not necessarily. They still must opt-in. If they did not receive the opt-in message from the district, they should manually opt-in by texting “yes” to 68453. Allow 24 hours from the time the cell number information is updated in Infinite Campus before manually opting in.
